Transitions began as a pilot project between Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓƵand the PEI Department of Education in the 2002/2003 school year. In its inaugural year, Transitions hosted 16 students from Bluefield Senior High School. The program has grown to over 150 high school students annually, partnering with schools to offer programs in Charlottetown, Montague, Souris, Morell, Summerside and Alberton. Students explore career options under the guidance of Transitions staff.

Students are divided into small groups which rotate every 2-3 weeks so that by the end of the semester every student has experienced every rotation. All Transitions exposures happen through a combination of college and community experiential learning, followed by program and job market research. Throughout the semester, students have the opportunity to build relationships with individuals in their field of interest, connect to their community, gain presentation skills, build their résumé, and learn more about themselves.
Rotations are complemented by tours, guest speakers, volunteering, fundraising, presenting, and portfolio development.
