Description
This 15 hour course is designed for coach officers, to assist and provide them with the necessary tools to aid recruit cadets in applying the knowledge and skills acquired during basic training while transitioning to the workplace. It covers the key elements of training, including the importance of goal setting, how to motivate the cadet recruit to achieve their goals, effective communication, analyzing, planning and implementing goals. Effective coaching involves developing your training and leadership style, understanding the coach officer process, and to identify why different motivational techniques for each may be required. The course is designed to teach coaching principles through a systematic approach to develop higher levels of skill and confidence in communication, application of the law, decision making and tactics. In doing so, the coach can assist the recruit in developing their knowledge and his or her skillset in their work as police officers.

Prerequisites:
Member meeting all agency policy and guidelines to attend the training, where preference will be given to Patrol Officers, assigned to a recruit during the fiscal year.
