Research Associate - Biotechnology

Continuing full time position commencing ASAP

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Applied Research, the successful applicant will support the college’s research and development activities in Biotechnology.  The successful applicant will be responsible to:

  • Conduct literature reviews to support applied research projects.
  • Design and execute industry-based research and development projects.
  • Perform laboratory testing, experiments, and analytical activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret research data.
  • Respond to industry requests for technical services and support.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and funding applications.
  • Manage multiple projects while meeting established timelines and budgets.
  • Collaborate with industry partners to develop new research initiatives.
  • Support and mentor students participating in research projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with industry, government, funding agencies, and academic organizations.
  • Work with the Director of Applied Research to identify and pursue new research and funding opportunities.
  • Represent Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓÆµat industry events, conferences, and networking activities.
  • Promote research activities and partnerships through collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Marketing and Communications.
  • Liaise with Holland »¢Ñ¨ÊÓÆµprograms and personnel to support interdisciplinary research initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in a science discipline related to Life Sciences or Biotechnology with 5 years’ research & development experience. A PhD is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting scientific research, including experimental design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Advanced laboratory and analytical testing skills.
  • Experience preparing funding proposals, technical reports, publications, and presentations.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, timelines, and budgets.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong statistical analysis, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other relevant research software.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and WHMIS requirements.
