About Our Program

Aviation, in general is a very complex industry with many different levels and skill sets. Although we will concentrate on the gas turbine engine, other topics will filter in and overlap during this program. We have support from industry in the local area in the areas of tools, software, shop tours and OJT/WIL placements. 

Please be aware that there are extra security check requirements for students to attend OJT/WIL at two of our Industry partner sites. This requires all students accepted into the ATT program to complete a Controlled Goods Program application form for both Standard Aero and Honeywell Aerospace. These two OJT sites require the student to meet security preconditions prior to being able to accept the student for OJT/WIL. The OJT/WIL site has the right to deny the student access to their facilities. All students will receive a Controlled Goods Form to be completed the first week of classes. 

Aircraft Turbine Technicians are employed mainly in Transport Canada’s Approved Maintenance Organizations conducting engine overhauls, repairs, and modifications. Gas turbine engines are classified as turbojet, turbofan, turboprop and turboshaft, which power both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. In addition, gas turbines are utilized in industrial applications to generate electricity and pump oil and gas through pipelines. 

The skill sets and experience gained in this program will be beneficial for employment in facilities that overhaul, repair, and modify gas turbine engines and related components. Examples: Fuel controls, pumps, nozzles and heaters, propeller governors, oil pumps, flow dividers and valves.
