Fundamental Arts Portfolio Requirements
Are you ready to start on a new artistic journey? Your portfolio is your showcase. Follow these requirements and show us what you can create! Your portfolio will be a significant factor in gaining admission to the program
CREATING YOUR PORTFOLIO
Your portfolio should contain 7-10 examples of your original work in at least 3 mediums.
Create and photograph original work for your portfolio submission.
You can create a multiple-page PDF, or alternatively, use a hyperlink in a text document that can serve as the home for your portfolio images and descriptions.
Do not send hard copies of your portfolio.
We are interested in seeing work that is carried out both independently and within classroom assignments.
Give us variety. Curate your collection to show off different skills you have. Works should be recent works, (within the last 2 years).

Letter of Intent (essay or video): (max 250 words)

Demonstrate observational drawing skills. (4 artworks)
We will be looking at proportion, perspective, value and composition. Show us evidence of expressive line work to suggest a range of detail, depth, and form. Use real-life examples, rather than from photographs.
- Still life
- Figure drawing of a human full figure (from head to toe)
- Value study of an object such as cloth, paper, etc., (Convey details of shape and form through a range of contrast levels and expressive shading.)
- Perspective drawing of a room or street

Demonstrate colour theory understanding. (2 artworks)
- Using paint, create an artwork that creates mood through colour.
- Show evidence of colour theory by creating an example of contrast of warm/cold colours (digital or paint)

Personal Original Work
(Choose 2- 5 artworks, Curate your best pieces)
- Original character design
- Traditional art; painting or sculpture
- Mixed media
- Digital media
- Photography
- Progress work, to show development of ideas

Presentation of Portfolio (checklist):
- Have you followed the portfolio requirements?
- Is your portfolio well organized and easy to access?
- Are images, well-lit images or scans of your artwork?
- Did you include descriptions of each piece?

Submitting your portfolio
